Why You May Be Failing At Fitness

Why You May Be Failing At Fitness

and how your fitness community may play a role in whether or not you succeed...

What do you feel when you think about going to the gym?  fear? frustration? dread? embarrassment? procrastination? resignation?

Let's face it, for most of us the gym does not feel like home. It is not full of comfy, familiar items that make us feel warm and fuzzy inside. There are all kinds of complex machines, strange looking devices and intimidating free weights zones full of sweaty, grunting, massive men staring at themselves in mirrors.

Just gaining the courage to show up and walk in is exhausting, let alone actually attempting to do something that resembles a workout once you get there. Most of the people there are absorbed in what they are doing, listening to music and won't even glance up at you as you walk by.

The machines you know how to use have a line and if you want a trainer to instruct you on how to use any of the other equipment you have to ask for help, sign up for a consultation, and pay even more money.

You spend hours upon hours doing the same old things all the while seeing little results if any, so you eventually just stop showing up. What's even worse, no one even notices that you aren't there.

Well I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way anymore. There are other options, lots of them, and I am here to help you find which one is right for you.

I put myself through the time and energy of visiting a whole bunch of different facilities, talking to trainers, managers, and salespeople to learn all about some of the different and exciting new gyms available so that you don't have to.

I tried new classes, and pushed the limits of my personal experience and comfort in order to bring you a peek inside many of the newest and most innovative training facilities around and to help give you a greater idea of just what you are looking for before you open your wallet and sign that contract.

What Gym Should You Join?

Getting in shape is hard. Once you have sorted through all the massive amounts of information available on nutrition and fitness and settled on a diet and exercise plan to embark on, you still have the decision of where you are going to pursue your fitness goals.

The gym you join could be the thing that makes or breaks your fitness success and with so many options it can be hard to decide which one to go with. There are:

  • Inexpensive mega gyms
  • small community gyms
  • personal training studios
  • bootcamps
  • Crossfit gyms
  • and many, many more

It can be a bit overwhelming trying to find the best way for you to get into shape and the best gym to join. Deciding where you want to invest your money and where you will ultimately experience the most success in reaching your fitness goals can be difficult.

With so many factors to consider and with so many different personalities, there really is no one-size-fits-all workout plan, and subsequently, no one-size-fits-all gym either. If you joined the wrong gym, it could be part of the reason you are failing at fitness.

Shopping for the right gym should not be a process you take lightly, especially if you value your health and want fitness to be a priority in your life. Perhaps my experiences will give you some guidance and inspiration in searching for your fitness community; the place where fitness magic will happen for you.
